Developing a Web Presence

How can you use classroom web site? Some ideas to consider...

  • Share student work. Creating a place on the web where students can share their work with the world, expands their audience. Writing to a large authentic audience motivates students to do their best work.
  • Post class information. Post assignments, notes, studycasts, graphic organizers, class documents etc. Posting class materials allows students access to class materials anytime, anywhere.
  • Guide student work. Use your website to steer students to useful searches and supplemental materials. Post links to materials and web resources you find valuable.
  • Communicate with parents. A website is a great way to keep parents up to date about what students are learning in your class. When you post assignments, due dates, sample student work, etc. it makes it easy for parents to become a partner in teaching and learning.
  • Stay organized. Use your website to keep track of documents and assignments. Think of it as your virtual filing cabinet!
  • Collaborate with other teachers, students or organizations. Use your website as a way to link with other teachers from across the county to across the world!
